ALISON WEST will lead the widely acclaimed YOGA UNION TEACHER TRAINING for qualified applicants. The goal of these Teacher Trainings, which Yoga Union has offered twice a year for the last nine years, is to offer a systematic approach to the practice of asana and pranayama with a grounding in the philosophical tradition of Classical Yoga and an introduction to anatomy both physical and subtle (nadis, chakras, the koshas), ensuring a sound and meaningful practice.

The Yoga Union Teacher Training provides a solid foundation for teaching correct alignment and breathing whether in a alignment or vinyasa form or other Hatha Yoga style. Each student is given the chance to practice teaching in small groups from the very first day. This is also an opportunity to deepen your practice if teaching is not in your plans. Teacher Certification is dependent upon completion of all requirements.

Each day includes an asana practice, class instruction in the subjects listed below and teaching practice. There is a written test at the beginning of the fourth week to help synthesize the material covered.

WHAT STUDENTS HAVE SAID ABOUT THE TEACHER TRAINING AND OTHER WORKSHOPS:
"As a licensed physical therapist and a recent recipient of the Yoga Union Teacher Training offered by Alison West, I wholeheartedly recommend her classes to all of my back care and scoliosis patients In Alison, one finds an advanced and seasoned teacher with a wise, measured and sensitive approach to therapeutic interventions -- coupled with a lovely presence and a wicked sense of humor. After experiencing her month-long intensive course, I feel that at last I have found a proper home for my own practice." (Marian Wade, MS, PT, New York City, March 2007)

“Alison West's Teacher training was one of the most in depth and empowering trainings I have ever had! The curriculum is detailed and thorough. Alison as a teacher opened me to parts of my self both emotionally and physically I'd never experienced.” (S.N. February, 2007)

“I feel truly nourished and hope I can come and drink from this well more often. Really what strikes me most deeply when I study with you is that I feel at home. There is a rigor yet always the deeply felt sense that you are really hoping to assist each of us in seeing ourselves.”(CA, Oct. 2004)

“Your teachings have served me well and continue to resonate and inspire me after all these 3 years!” (RP, May 2006)

“Just wanted to say WOW! The workshop was phenomenal. As always you are an inspiring teacher.” (EO, June 2005)

“I am enjoying learning from you - you are a wonderful teacher - I knew that long ago.” (JB, Oct. 2004)

“I consider You one of the best teachers I have ever taken class from.” (MH, April 2005)

“i just want you to understand how omnipresent you are for me as a teacher. -- whenever you are teaching something you have explicitly learned from one of your teachers, you attribute it to him or her. "strengthen the lineage"-- the yoga world is big and small at the same time. but it is so important to acknowledge our teachers-- it is part of keeping humbleness, awareness, and gratitude always at hand. all this is to say that some instruction of yours comes out of my mouth almost every class i teach.” (SN June 2006)

“Thank you for your teaching and guidance, Alison. I am blessed to know you. Love and light, S.” (SR, Jan 2005)
