BACKCARE + SCOLIOSIS
We welcome students of all levels, including brand new beginners, to the Backcare & Scoliosis Practice at YU. The best choices of classes if you have backcare related issues and are new to yoga would be any class called Herniation Basics. Additionally, the Backcare Basics Series (offered seasonally) is also a great introduction to the work you will be doing in backcare classes, with a lot of one-on-one attention and instruction so you can learn what is going on in your body and continue your practice with confidence.
Classes marked "Intermediate" or "Level 2" are not appropriate for students who have never done yoga before anywhere. Even if you have a solid and regular yoga practice, but are new to working specifically with your back, please start at Level 1/Basics. These classes do presume knowledge of props, ropes and alignment-based yoga.
Students must take Scoliosis Basics regularly before taking Intermediate Yoga for Scoliosis with Alison on Wednesday nights.
Class pre-registration policy:
It is highly recommended you pre-register for YOGA UNION Backcare classes, especially classes that tend to get full.
If you pre-register for a class you must cancel eight hours before that class begins or you will be charged in full for the class/lose the class on your class card. If you have an unlimited card, one day will be deducted from your month.
Please cancel via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or call 212-510-7404. Even if we receive the message later, we will go by the time stamp and refund your money or class card if appropriate.
If you are ill or there is an immediate family medical emergency, we will of course, waive the fee.
